Andrew Zimba
Technical Lead, Oil & Gas GeoIM
For as long as he can recall, Drew has been interested in maps — so his role as our oil and gas GeoIM technical lead fits him well. With three decades of industry experience, he manages geographic information system-based projects including custom application development, field data collection and complex spatial analyses.
Drew’s position is a perfect combination of his education and passion. He earned a degree in industrial and systems engineering from Virginia Tech which, he explains, makes you look at things from all angles with a systems-based approach. After seeking out graduate courses in GIS that sounded interesting, Drew landed a GIS internship and never looked back. He’s driven by problem solving and discovering ways to make processes better, faster and more accurate.

One of Drew’s favorite projects at HDR was a street tree inventory for Washington, D.C. In only four months, he helped craft a project approach and acquire software and hardware for 35 crews to hit the streets where they inventoried more than 130,000 trees.
Drew is an Esri ArcGIS Desktop Professional who serves as an industry leader by giving presentations at professional conferences and meetings.
