HDR Rail and Transit Vehicle Technology Lead Marcin Taraszkiewicz, P.E., will serve as the lead instructor for a seminar held in conjunction with the AREMA 2023 Annual Conference.

This is Taraszkiewicz’s seventh year as the lead instructor of “Introduction to Practical Railway Engineering,” a three-day seminar aimed at early-career rail professionals or those looking for exposure to new areas of the rail industry. The seminar will cover all aspects of the rail industry, technical and otherwise, including train operations; track inspection, design and maintenance; environmental regulations and permitting; and government regulations and oversight.

At HDR, Taraszkiewicz supports clients in industry-leading work on rail and transit vehicles. With more than 30 years of experience, he is an expert in all areas of rail vehicle technology and has direct experience in the decarbonization of rail fleets.

Other instructors from HDR this year are Leandra Cleveland, industrial environmental sciences and planning lead, and Chad Baker, railway signal and train control design manager.

The seminar will be held immediately before the AREMA 2023 Annual Conference, from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. Attendees must register separately in addition to their AREMA registration and will receive 16 professional development hours.
