Invigorating the Ground Plane of an Office Tower to Create an Engaging Destination in the City
The design transforms the ground plane at 140 William, creating a desirable destination and a unique laneway environment. Strong visual markers form gateways to the entry points, linking important public spaces together in a precinct destined to become ‘the place’ in the city. A careful and highly articulated mix providing activation inhabiting laneways and open courts in an animated fashion within an architectural expression that both complements the existing architecture and defines a unique and bespoke character for the laneways.
140 William features a series of laneways providing a distinct character not found anywhere else in the CBD of Perth and connects Murray Street Mall to William and Wellington Streets. The re-positioning of the ground plane includes the re-planning of the public spaces, inclusion of art, new landscape precinct to the north, addition of wayfinding for the new branding/positioning, and a new retail mix focusing on food.
