Employee-Driven Global Philanthropy

Modeled after the U.S.-based HDR Foundation, our employee-driven charitable funds in Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom enable employees to participate in fundraising, grant sponsorship and community grant-making decisions in the communities where they live and work.

Michelle Parratt, assistant project manager in our Calgary, Alberta, office, volunteers with the Rocky Mountain Adaptive summer kayak program. Through two grants sponsored by the HDR Canada Fund, Michelle and her colleagues have funded new adaptive kayak equipment and adaptive children's bikes to expand mountain sports opportunities to people of all ability levels.

Shayne Blazley, director in Australia, became involved with RUN DIPG after learning that a friend’s 6-year-old daughter had been diagnosed with a rare form of childhood brain cancer. In 2023, Shayne not only ran a marathon to raise awareness and funds for the organization; he also sponsored one of the first grants from the HDR Australia Fund.

Inspired by the personal experience of losing her father, Angela Bagan began volunteering at The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice and she recognized a new opportunity to impact lives by sponsoring one of the first grants from the HDR United Kingdom Fund. The grant supports a peer-mentoring program for adolescents dealing with grief after the loss of a loved one.
