Landscape Architecture
Our Work in Action
In translational health environments, staff must have access to places of respite that allow time to disconnect from the often overwhelming, yet critical, jobs of delivering care and conducting research; and patients need places and spaces to leave the clinical environment behind and connect to nature in order to heal.
Landscape architecture offers an important opportunity to support the health and well-being of all users by establishing natural and relaxing places within healthcare environments that balance with clinical elements and support wayfinding elements that improve the human experience.
Our Approach
Our teams conduct surveys and analyses to inform site selection, understand traffic patterns and existing infrastructure, improve economic planning and value engineering, and determine site-appropriate solutions. We assure the best opportunities are discovered that satisfy functional requirements, celebrate an institution’s culture and context, and guide investment decisions to fulfill the client’s vision for the long term.
Our planning services include urban and community planning, land use planning, environmental planning, transportation and parking planning, master planning, and campus planning. We use a multifaceted and data-informed approach that considers how connectivity reaches beyond physical adjacencies and distances to impact spatial, social and institutional linkages.
Our integrated and holistic approach uses creative placemaking strategies to combine the functional needs of space with unique and meaningful landscape design interventions that artfully embed a “story” into amenities and infrastructure. Woven throughout are intentional green infrastructure strategies to protect and restore natural systems while facilitating societal benefit.
We have broad experience in traditional and alternative methods of project delivery. From design-bid-build, to design-build-finance-maintain (DBFM) procurement models, to integrated project delivery (IPD), we understand that design is not complete until the project is built. Within these guardrails, we provide leadership in public involvement, permitting and entitlement services, program management, construction documentation and administration. We are able to weave design thinking throughout these varied forms of project implementation, which is critical to achieving a forward-thinking, successful project.
