University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center Facilities Master Plan Update
Meeting Growing Needs
The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center required a comprehensive update to its facilities master plan to address aging infrastructure and the growing needs of the diverse population it serves across the state. We worked with HSC to update the plan to enhance their healthcare, education and research facilities, and to empower their continued leadership in healthcare provision and education into the future. We employed our expertise in creating strategic, impactful facility plans to set UNM on the right path forward.
A Comprehensive Approach
We engaged in an extensive research effort to thoroughly understand HSC’s needs and developed a cohesive, long-term vision for the campus to bolster HSC’s goals and aspirations, which includes:
- Improvement and expansion of educational spaces to meet increased student enrollment projections.
- Modernization of outdated laboratory spaces to support cutting-edge biomedical research.
- Expansion of clinical spaces to meet future demands and improve patient care.
- Addressing significant shortfalls in faculty and staff office spaces.
- Creation of a central "Hub" to unify the campus and enhance interdepartmental collaboration.
The plan significantly enhances UNM’s ability to provide top-tier healthcare, education and research. By addressing current and future needs, the plan's long-term outlook builds upon the HSC's leadership role in health sciences, benefiting the entire New Mexico community.
