Headquarters Renovation Celebrates Company Legacy
Upon Knutson Construction’s centennial, Knutson worked with HDR to renovate an existing building and create a state-of-the-art office headquarters. Creative concrete formwork and exposed steel construction, aesthetics Knutson Construction use on a regular basis, were implemented in the design. Several conference rooms are linked to a dramatic two-story atrium in the center of the building. A grand multipurpose room flows off of the atrium as well, linking to a large kitchen and entertaining space. Trellis-covered porches connect the conference rooms and the kitchen — providing the ultimate indoor/outdoor experience. Since access to natural light was a significant goal for the client, HDR designed the perimeter offices to have no walls or fully glazed walls, which allows light to reach the center work stations. Small focus rooms were created as well for break out space to hold creative meetings and small group meetings.
