Architect

As a behavioral health architect in our Minneapolis architecture studio, Kyle develops imaginative and insightful solutions for highly complex problems requiring deep analysis and technical consideration. Specializing in medical and mental health environments, he is responsible for design and planning for projects across diverse care settings, scales and complexity. Leveraging a strong understanding of people and space, with a deep knowledge of healthcare trends, Kyle integrates evidence-based practices into the design of therapeutic environments, enhancing the quality of patient care and well-being.

He plays a key role in advancing the firm’s behavioral and mental health practice through project leadership, research integration and cross-disciplinary collaboration. He is deeply committed to pushing the field forward by blending empathy with technical precision, crafting spaces that support healing, dignity and safety. Kyle is a collaborative and committed team member, a trusted design lead and an emerging voice in behavioral health design. He actively contributes to design research, national thought leadership, and cross-disciplinary initiatives that push the standard of care forward.

Kyle is an active participant in a national committee focused on reimagining medical psychiatry units to help inform future fundamental design guidelines. He is involved in the American Institute of Architects Minnesota chapter and co-chaired AIA Minnesota’s Licensing Advisory committee. He shares his expertise and knowledge presenting at national conferences and contributing to thought leadership, most recently co-authoring an HDR publication, “Designed to Last: Reimagining the Future of State Hospitals.”
