John Schubert, P.E.
Industrial Process Technology Lead
John’s spent more than 40 years bettering industrial water and wastewater treatment and shares his knowledge with clients and project teams every day. His expertise is tapped for everything from engineering to bench and pilot studies to expert witness testimony.
John thrives on the challenge of learning production processes for the many industrial environments that cross his path. Sometimes his work even pays for itself, like funding operations improvements and existing facilities upgrades for a steel company with $5 million annual savings identified in the wastewater treatment process. As a part of HDR’s Fellowship Program, John was selected to research methods for the treatment of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, widely regarded as emerging contaminants.
John believes in teaching the next generation of engineers to excel. He helped develop an 18-session training program on industrial wastewater treatment to enhance experience and prepare engineers for more independent work.
Throughout his career, John’s been an engaged member of the International Water Conference. He served as Conference General Chair in 1997. In 2017, he was awarded the IWC Merit Award in recognition of his leadership in the industry.
