Chester Werts, P.E., S.E., P.Eng.
Senior Bridge Engineer
Chester leads our bridge group in Olympia, Washington, a specialized team often called upon to solve complex problems related to bridge designs worldwide. He enjoys leading talented project teams. And design and project management inform much of his day-to-day work, as does mentoring younger staff.
Still, he derives his greatest professional satisfaction from the engineering itself, creating custom design solutions. That’s why he also donates his free time to the Bridges to Prosperity program.
Chester led our superstructure design team for the Bayonne Bridge Raise the Roadway approach structures; he also led arch design for the award-winning Hoover Dam bypass. He has advanced many other complex projects and earned a reputation as an expert in concrete segmental bridges, where design and constructability are inextricably linked.
He has been active with the Structural Engineers Association in Northern California and Washington as well as the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is frequently invited to present at conferences and has contributed to many industry publications.
