Alex Yescas, P.E., CFM, ENV SP
Water Resources Program Manager
Alex brings extensive water resources experience in project and program management, including lessons learned on how to effectively develop programs of different scales and drives. Currently, he serves as program manager for the City of San Diego, Stormwater Capital Improvement Program Management and Engineering Design Services also known as Think Blue® San Diego. In this role, he is helping the city in the delivery of $733 million in Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act funding dedicated to implementing stormwater and flood mitigation projects.
Alex is passionate about enhancing watersheds and implementing multi-benefit projects that directly impact underrepresented communities. He has dedicated more than two decades of his career delivering award-winning projects involving hydrology, hydraulics, scour analysis, channel design and stormwater quality to improve those communities.
His flood risk expertise includes supporting the California Department of Water Resources with implementing statewide flood risk initiatives. Following Hurricane Harvey in 2017, he assisted Harris County Flood Control District in Texas with the rollout of their MAAPnext Flood Mapping Program, one of the largest flood risk mapping programs in the U.S.
Alex serves on the board of directors of the Floodplain Management Association. He is also a founding board member of Fellowship: Latinos of Water, a non-profit organization focused on encouraging future Latino leaders to pursue careers in the water industry.
