Erin Slayton, P.E., DBIA, ENV SP
Transportation Program Management Director
“Program management is about looking at the big picture to achieve more than the sum of its parts. What might be good for one project might create a challenge for another, but taken as a whole, we can find the right balance to deliver on the program’s overall goals and not just the individual project goals.”
Erin has extensive experience working on complex, multi-billion-dollar programs for both private and public sectors, where she has consistently demonstrated her ability to meet aggressive schedules, build consensus between diverse stakeholders, and drive decisions to keep projects moving forward. Throughout her 20-plus-year career, she has managed nearly $9 billion worth of capital transportation projects and programs.
As the transportation director for program management, Erin has established long-standing relationships with internal and external clients built on trust and respect. She leverages HDR’s broad range of services — integrating problem-solving and communication skills, coordinating proper staffing, and creating productive and professional teams — to meet the goals established by clients. Her deep knowledge of program management allows her to guide teams on the delivery of holistic, value-added services throughout the project life cycle. Erin’s work includes sitting side-by-side with our clients in co-located offices providing project oversight, and coordinating management services on multi-billion-dollar programs.
Passionate about empowering others, Erin is often sought out by leaders across the industry for her insight, knowledge, and participation in areas around diversity, equity, and inclusion. She has served as a mentor to many professionals and has held regional leadership positions in the National Society of Black Engineers. As a long-time member of WTS, Erin helped charter the WTS South Carolina chapter, which advocates for women in transportation and served two years as director-at-large. She was recently elected to serve as a director on the WTS International Board.
