Scott Weaver Joins HDR as Greenhouse Gas and Carbon Management Technical Lead
Environmental analytics expert Scott Weaver has joined HDR as a greenhouse gas and carbon management technical lead.
Based in Columbus, Ohio, Weaver will focus on HDR’s work in the power, industrial and waste sectors and serve as a key member of the firm’s sustainability and resilience team.
“Scott will be HDR’s knowledge lead for greenhouse gas, carbon accounting methodologies and carbon management pursuits,” said Sara Blascovich, HDR resources business group manager for Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. “He will be a valuable technical mentor to our greenhouse gas and carbon management professionals.”
During his 18-year career, Weaver has developed an expertise in climate change, decarbonization, environmental, energy and sustainability issues. In a previous role, he led environmental permitting and compliance across all operations for one of the largest electric utilities in the U.S.
Weaver’s career path stems from his deep concern for the environment. “I want to help future generations enjoy their natural surroundings as much as I have. Climate change is unique in that many aspects of our lives have the potential to contribute to it, and many aspects of our lives can be affected by it.”
Weaver holds a master’s degree in environmental management from Duke University — with concentrations in environmental economics and policy and energy — and a bachelor’s in environmental and plant biology from Ohio University.
He has served as chair, director and advisor for industry associations contributing to climate change-related advocacy, regulatory reform, and research and development. In recognition of the impact of his research leadership, Weaver has received the Electric Power Research Institute’s Technology Transfer Award on three occasions.
