Newly Appointed Principals in Australia Expand HDR’s Global Health & Major Projects Capability
HDR's architecture practice in Australia has appointed two new principals to expand its health capabilities. Health Principal Conor Larkins and Major Projects Principal Zig Peshos will empower the company’s global high-performing teams to design major health projects that transform models of care and deliver complex, city-shaping social infrastructure programs.
With 18 years of experience working across health, science, education and research projects, Larkins will head HDR’s health sector in Australia and work with a network of directors to elevate the practice’s design rigor and deliver human-centered facilities nationwide.
“With HDR as the No.1 healthcare design practice in the U.S., I’m looking forward to leveraging the company’s global impact to expand our local footprint and deliver community-driven healthcare infrastructure across Australia’s eastern seaboard and beyond,” Larkins said.
Larkins will oversee the delivery of complex hospital projects, steer the stakeholder engagement process, and champion design and technical leadership.
"By co-designing equitable and regenerative hospitals with deeper connections to both place and the local community, we can elevate healthcare outcomes for future generations," she said.
Larkins has worked across many of Australia’s most significant health precincts, including Prince of Wales Acute Services Building, the Lang Walker AO Medical Research Building, Nepean Hospital Redevelopment, Royal North Shore Hospital, and Northside Hospital in Canberra.
Peshos’ 30 years of transdisciplinary experience across building typologies will similarly inform the trajectory of large-scale projects across HDR’s portfolio. Peshos led major projects at the Atlassian Headquarters, the new Sydney Fish Market, Greenland Tower, Wynyard Walk, Central Station Metro, Two Melbourne Quarter and Brisbane Square.
At HDR, he will provide expertise in project team and change management, design development, documentation and delivery.
Peshos acknowledges the opportunity to deliver projects to solve complex problems in innovative and integrated ways. “By empowering our project teams and ensuring our solutions are underpinned by creative and technical excellence, we can deliver on big projects and programs that meet our clients’ diverse needs,” he said.
