HDR has named Amy Shahar the strategic communications director for its water practice. In this role, she will help lead a team of over 250 practitioners in the U.S. and Canada as they partner with clients to help deliver sustainable, equitable and community-informed water solutions.

In addition to her national work in water communications, Shahar led HDR's early efforts to help clients prepare for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Lead and Copper Rule Revisions’ unprecedented outreach and education demands. She is currently crafting communications guidance for HDR's PFAS initiative.

As seasoned facilitator, Shahar specializes in helping diverse groups navigate disagreement. She draws on her experience in academic research and public policy to help clients plan and execute contextually sensitive engagement campaigns that reach community, agency and elected stakeholders in productive, relatable ways.

“Amy is the right leader for this role, with her combination of client understanding and passion for delivering community-based outcomes,” said HDR Water Cross Sector Director Amy Dammarell. “As a natural communicator and creative problem solver, Amy will help us continue to grow strategic communications services and elevate our delivery.”
