Successfully Leading a Civil 3D Team Training With Jeff Fyre
Expert Tips, Tricks and Considerations When Developing a Training Program

Maintaining a competitive advantage in the transportation infrastructure planning and design industry requires engineers and technicians experienced with the latest technology to improve project delivery, efficiency and collaboration. Staying up to date on a particular program or software — like Autodesk Civil 3D — to successfully deliver a project can sometimes require additional training within the workplace.
HDR West Region Digital Delivery Lead Jeff Frye is the Autodesk Civil 3D lead and has led dozens of training sessions over the last few years involving hundreds of professionals. He is an industry expert on the engineering design and documentation software and its benefits to enhance the planning, design and management of infrastructure projects.
In a recent article with AUGIWORLD Magazine, Frye provided insight on developing a detailed training program from start to finish. Before dedicating time to developing any kind of lesson material, he first recommends receiving approval from company management to overcome any potential obstacles.
“Sometimes it’s understood that training is needed, and the idea is welcomed, particularly when staff are newer or recently hired,” Frye said. “Other times, it could mean pointing out the uncomfortable truth that a team needs training.”
AUGIWORLD is the monthly magazine of AUGI, the world’s largest computer-aided design and building information modeling user group. The independent organization assists Autodesk users by presenting information about the digital design software.
