Seymour Village Residential Development
Nature-Inspired, Open-Concept Townhomes
Historic Modernist buildings in the Pacific Northwest and their interaction with the natural environment inspired the Seymour Village Residential Development design. The project is being completed as a partnership between Aquilini Development and the Tsleil-Waututh First Nation.
HDR was selected to complete phases one through five which include the design and construction of townhomes that range in size and unit number. Subsequent phases, which will not involve HDR, will include the design and construction of multi-storey apartment buildings.
The townhomes are oriented to maximize views of Burrard Inlet. The designs are contemporary and feature 9’ ceilings, open-concept spaces and incorporate natural materials such as wood. HDR designed the buildings to make the most of natural light, and separated the private spaces for living and sleeping from the busier street level. In addition to the private backyard space afforded to each unit, the housing development also includes a residents-only park that includes an outdoor fitness circuit, children’s playground, and covered picnic area.
