Michael Flores
Asset Management Lead
Michael is an asset management lead based in Irvine, California. He chairs our asset management practice group and is responsible for supporting business development and high-quality technical delivery of collection system operations, maintenance and asset management projects across the United States. This includes building our internal staff capability in various regions to deliver facility asset management and collection system management projects.
He is passionate about improving operational excellence, optimizing the use of resources, and minimizing the environmental and societal impacts of collection system operations. Over the past two decades, Michael has supported wastewater agencies in reducing sewer overflows by improving the effectiveness of their sewer maintenance operations, building the business case for increased capital investment, and implementing decision processes and systems to support smart capital investment decisions.
Michael holds an Institute of Asset Management Certificate and is currently an active member of the Water Environment Federation and California Water Environment Association.
He is also the chair of CWEA’s Sanitary Sewer System Waste Discharge Requirements Training Task Force. In this role, he partners with the California State Water Resources Control Board to provide training to help California’s collection system agencies achieve compliance with the state’s version of capacity, management, operation and maintenance, and to improve the effectiveness of sewer system management.
