With every step, natural and feature lighting invites visitors to explore the Kiewit Luminarium, an innovative community space and learning environment built to inspire lifelong interest and careers in science, technology, arts, engineering and mathematics. The delicate balance between light and darkness enhances the visitor experience, allowing each exhibit to shine uniquely — optimizing natural light for certain exhibits and ensuring complete darkness for others. As evening falls, the Luminarium transforms into a vibrant, multisensory environment, perfect for community gatherings and private events, a testament to the transformative power of light.

The double-skin sawtooth panel envelope, inspired by the metal machine sheds of the Midwest, presents an approachable softness and serves as a dynamic canvas that transforms from a daytime beacon to an illuminated landmark at night.
