Coordinating Success on the West Davis Highway
Experts Bryan Adams and Bethany Shingleton Share Insights With Roads & Bridges
The new West Davis Highway north of Salt Lake City opened to traffic in January 2024, providing congestion relief and meeting the mobility needs of a fast-growing section of Utah. The 16-mile greenfield highway opened on budget and ahead of schedule, fulfilling a vision for the road that began decades earlier.
Two HDR experts who spent years dedicated to the project wrote about the new highway for Roads & Bridges magazine, detailing how a consistent and engaged team helped the program stay on track from early environmental stages through construction. Bryan Adams, senior project manager, led our program management work on the West Davis Corridor. Bethany Shingleton, project manager and office principal, has worked on the project since 2010.
“It was clear that the community was excited about the new road,” the authors wrote. “About 2,500 people showed up for grand opening, and when barricades were lifted, lines of traffic were already waiting to use it. In the weeks and months since, the enthusiasm hasn’t dimmed.”
