HDR Establishes Architecture Studio in Raleigh, North Carolina
HDR has opened its newest architecture studio in Raleigh, North Carolina, continuing the firm's legacy of design excellence. Welcoming Michelle McNutt, health principal, and Tim Winstead, education and science principal, as studio leaders, HDR’s architecture team joins the engineering practice in Raleigh as the Central Piedmont Region continues to experience growth. The studio expands HDR's established design presence in the Carolinas and along the East Coast.
“HDR’s new Raleigh architecture studio brings the firm’s experience and expertise to the Research Triangle’s global leaders in academic health, life sciences and higher education,” said Eric Jaffe, HDR's East region architecture director. “From academic medical centers and outpatient clinics to corporate laboratories and education facilities, HDR’s Raleigh staff have the project experience and established relationships to develop innovative design solutions in a market experiencing unprecedented growth.”
With 20 years of healthcare design experience in North Carolina, McNutt brings technical and regional expertise to her new role, having led the design for multiple UNC Health campuses, including UNC Medical Center, UNC Hospital at Hillsborough and Rex Hospital.
Winstead’s 30 years of design experience includes project leadership for world-renowned research universities, global pharmaceutical companies and medical device organizations, including Duke University, Abbott and Novartis.
“As Raleigh-Durham seeks ideas, best practices and solutions to address regional growth, the life science boom, and the changing workplace, HDR is well positioned to bring needed expertise and collaborative sensibilities to our clients and projects,” said Richard Alsop, HDR managing principal. “With Winstead’s global design experience in education and science and McNutt’s local healthcare design expertise, HDR’s new Raleigh architecture studio is poised for growth and success, as the new office expands upon an established presence in North Carolina.”
