AASHTO President Roger Millar’s emphasis areas call for a resilient transportation system that is safe, sound and smart. Under the “safe” aspect of the system, this Knowledge Session will explore the collaborative nature of eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries, with a focus on opportunities from the infrastructure perspective. Speakers will examine initiatives underway to address what U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has called a “national crisis,” and explore the role of state DOTs and their leadership in incorporating safety more comprehensively throughout their activities and the project lifecycle.
