Justin Perdue, OAA, MRAIC, has been promoted to HDR’s Director, Education, Science and Community in Canada. In his new role, Perdue will leverage his 20 years of experience practicing education and science architecture to serve as Canada’s national leader for education, science and community.

“Justin has the unique ability to bring design, industry and project delivery expertise together to develop strategies for meeting new clients and winning work,” said HDR's Eric Jaffe, global director for education, science and community. “He connects with colleagues across many different markets and geographies to share best practices and deliver our services in a way that garners trust from clients and project teams alike.”

In collaboration with leaders across the country and the global sector, Perdue will set growth targets, collaborate with regional offices to develop current and future leaders and help amplify the sector’s most compelling design stories at the local, regional and global scale.

“I see marketing and business development as an extension of the design process,” Perdue said. “I love understanding our client’s challenges and anticipating the best solutions we can offer to help solve them. I’m looking forward to this unique opportunity to do so in collaboration with my colleagues across Canada.“

Perdue’s history of winning and executing projects that combine technical complexity with design excellence is evident in the firm’s ongoing work on the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories campus and on the York University Neuroscience Laboratory and Research Centre, which is currently under construction. He frequently speaks at industry conferences and on webinars on topics such as how collaborative project delivery approaches can yield more successful design outcomes and trusted client relationships. A practicing architect, he contributed to the most recent edition of Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Handbook of Practice on the topics of management, supervision and mentorship.
