Eric DiVirgilio, P.E.
New England Rail/Transit Manager
As our New England rail/transit department manager, Eric helps to create cost-effective and efficient rail infrastructure projects. He leads project and stakeholder meetings, interfaces with clients, and provides technical support. As transit is an integral component in the United States’ transportation network, he continually strives to make transit systems competitive to attract new ridership.
He finds it rewarding to work with other disciplines to complete a project and broaden his personal experience. Eric enjoys being able to work with water resource dam engineers to support a client on slope stabilization, with transit architects on station designs, and with geotechnical, electrical, HVAC, ridership forecasters, operations and economics professionals, to name a few.
He takes pride in helping clients realize their projects. Projects include the program management of Boston's Tower 1 replacement and upgrade, the busiest interlocking in New England; Worcester Union Station, where he delivered the final design of a new 800-foot center island platform with new headhouse entrance into the historic station, pedestrian overpass and vertical transportation elements; and the Worcester Triple Track and Accessibility Improvements, a 10-mile stretch of new third track, two major new interlockings, one modified interlocking and four newly accessible, full-length high-level stations with vertical circulation elements.
Eric is a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association and the New England Railroad Club.
