With over 25 years of experience within the built environment, Tariq leads a team of over 30 sustainability consultants, and is a core member of our sustainability and resiliency team. His experience covers various sectors including built environment sustainability at regional, master plan and building scales. Alongside this, Tariq has experience in the public sector covering a range of international critical national infrastructure developments and in the private sector covering a range of building typologies including commercial office, retail, residential, industrial, education, tourism and hospitality sectors in the United Kingdom and the Middle East.
In the U.K., his notable achievements include the sustainability, energy and thermal design of the Swiss Re ‘Gherkin’ building with Foster and Partners architects and the ‘Walkie-Talkie’ building by architect Rafael Viñoly which are two of central London’s signature buildings. Tariq’s first consultancy project involved the HVAC retrofit to a lower energy, high air and thermal quality large scale banking hall within the Bank of England. More recently, Tariq is leading a team of consultants in decarbonization of a fully operational complex 50 story commercial building toward Net Zero. Also delivering green building certification, health and well-being certification, EPC rating improvements in readiness for upcoming legislative changes, heat network regulation compliance, ISO 14001 certification and informed by a digital twin modelling and costing study to assist in transforming this complex building via planned retrofit measures to maintain this building’s Tier 1 status.
In the Middle East, signature projects he has been involved in include sustainable master planning services for an island community development, a highly sustainable headquarters building for a local banking giant, design and construction sustainability technical implementation of over 1,000 island homes. Tariq was also instrumentally involved in the development and implementation of Abu Dhabi’s Estidama Pearl Rating Systems for master plans, buildings and homes.
