Mike has over 20 years experience incorporating the underlying principles and detailed technical requirements of scientific research within architectural and engineering systems. Over the years, Mike has amassed particular knowledge in vivarium design including insectaries, equipment design and installation and engineering coordination. He understands how the design of a vivarium can have a significant impact not only on the lives of the animals within it, but also on the people that care for those animals.
He works alongside institutions to ensure equipment and space is sized appropriately for the workload, creating a seamless work environment. Mike is actively involved with AALAS and has presented numerous sessions and workshops on topics including operational efficiency, biosafety, flexibility and adaptability in laboratory environments.
