John Duschang
Environmental Science and Planning Director
John, our environmental science and planning director, provides strategic focus in the area of environmental sciences, planning and compliance for all of our market sectors. He is responsible for technical support, quality oversight and best practice development for our environmental science and planning service area.
John possesses direct knowledge of Federal, state and local environmental programs, and is familiar with the requirements for environmental scoping and public outreach efforts for State Environmental Quality Review Assessments and National Environmental Policy Act Environmental Impact Statements. He has coordinated, implemented and participated in public hearings and meetings with local community boards, civil and environmental advocacy groups involving environmental issues associated with Federally sponsored navigation and transportation improvement projects.
John has managed and assisted in the preparation of complex NEPA documents by multidisciplinary teams for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Coast Guard and Federal Highway Administration transportation and infrastructure projects. He has also managed and planned environmental data collections and compliance monitoring for major electric generating stations that met or exceeded Clean Water Act 316(a)(b) and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit requirements.
John has provided science-based, defensible recommendations for mitigating potential adverse effects associated with various waterfront development, transportation and infrastructure projects. He has prepared environmental permit applications for energy and waterfront development projects as related to the New Jersey Land Use Regulation Program and Coastal Area Facility Review.
