Chance Lauderdale, Ph.D., P.E.
Drinking Water Director
Inspired by his grandmother’s efforts to bring a drinking water system to a small town outside of Gainesville, Florida, Chance pursued a career in environmental engineering.
He’s received a bachelor's degree, a master's degree and a doctorate from the University of Florida, and now leads our global drinking water program. Although his passion lies in biofiltration, you’ll find he gets excited about anything engineering — basically, bringing science to life.
As an industry-recognised expert in the field of biofiltration and biofilter optimisation, he has written several of the most-referenced American Water Works Association and Water Research Foundation biofiltration publications, including the first biofiltration section in the Partnership for Safe Water’s Self Assessment for Water Treatment Plant Optimization. In addition, Chance has developed multiple novel biofilter enhancement and monitoring strategies that are now practised at utilities across the U.S.
