HDR's proud to introduce our new dam practice lead, Kevin Snyder, P.E. For the past 12 years, HDR's dam program has grown under the consistent leadership of Keith Ferguson. It is no small feat to be ranked No. 3 in Dams and Reservoirs and No. 2 in Hydropower by Engineering News-Record. As Ferguson transitions into a new role at HDR as senior technical advisor, Snyder will continue the program’s success.

Snyder is a senior dam safety engineer whose 30-year career has been primarily dedicated to dam safety and dam improvement projects. In his 20 years at HDR, he has held various roles, most recently serving as the west region hydropower practice lead.

“I am very excited to have Kevin lead our dam practice,” said Bob Beduhn, HDR’s dam, levee and civil works practice director. “His background in hydropower, risk and geotechnical engineering makes him an excellent choice for this role.”

Based in HDR's Denver office, Snyder will oversee strategic planning and all aspects of its dam practice. The dam program includes large-scale projects with multiple disciplines and benefits, as well as smaller regional projects with local benefits. He will coordinate inter-related disciplines such as hydrology, hydraulics, structural, geotechnical, civil, mechanical and other resources needed to complete projects in the program.

Snyder is an active member of the National Hydropower Association and the United States Society on Dams, and he regularly participates in local, regional and national meetings related to dam safety. Throughout his career, he has served in various roles including lead engineer, program and project manager on large dam remediation projects, and has served as the independent consultant in the inspection of rockfill, earthfill, gravity concrete, and arch dams.
