Employee Network Group 4C Grants

The HDR Foundation's "ENG 4C Grants" are sponsored by our employee network groups, with a focus on employees’ commitment to inclusion, diversity and equity. The grants mirror our ENGs’ "4C” multidimensional perspective focused on career, commerce, community and culture.

Alimentando Al Pueblo is the only Latinx food bank in the country – led by Latinx employees, with food sourced directly from Latinx distributors, grocers and local farms. This US$10,000 grant will fund culturally relevant food boxes that will feed approximately 100 families (or 340 individuals) in the Highline service area near Seattle for about two weeks. Community members can choose from a Mexican or Central American food box, each with food staples and brands that are recognized by that community.

The funds will better connect local hospitals with community partners, filling the gap to create a more seamless transition from the hospital to the home. The program provides a support network to keep survivors connected to family, friends and other community members to ease feelings of isolation that often can affect the mental health of survivors.

U.S. Small Grant Cycle 2

Following diagnosis with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or ALS, patients slowly lose the ability to do everyday tasks, including communicating verbally with family and friends. This US$15,000 grant to the ALS Association New Mexico Chapter will expand the Zia ALwayS Cares program, offering families an adaptive communications kit to adapt as the progressive neurodegenerative disease advances. The kits could include a boogie board, alphabet/letter board, text-to-speech app information, stylus, amplifier and voice recorder with voice banking, and instruction manuals, helping to ease the communication burden between ALS patients and their loved ones.
