Cameron Schaefer Takes the Main Stage at Esri’s Infrastructure Management & GIS Conference
At the same podium as Esri’s founder and several industry thought leaders, Cameron Schaefer, P.E., presented this week during the IMGIS Conference Plenary Session. He demonstrated how HDR is at the forefront of integrating geographic information systems and building information modeling.
Schaefer and his team developed a GIS-based hub to enhance the accuracy, accessibility and trust with which information is shared across organizations for the Ontario Line subway project.
HDR developed the planning portal using Esri’s ArcGIS Hub cloud platform to assist the nearly 1,000 staff members on the project team. The portal serves as an integral source for reviewing the latest 2D alignment, properties, utilities, environmental impacts and 3D station design. It combines GIS, CAD and BIM data in a dynamic environment and acts as the single source of truth for all consolidated 2D and 3D data.
HDR recently received a Special Achievement in GIS Award from Esri for its effective enterprise implementation of GIS technology to deliver better services. HDR was chosen from more than 100,000 customer organizations worldwide and honored for its work on theOntario Line, a CA$10.9 billion rapid transit line with 15 proposed stations that will run through downtown Toronto, from Exhibition Place to the Ontario Science Centre. HDR serves as technical advisor on the project.
