HDR Research Uncovers Hundreds of Waste Actions in 20 North American Climate Action Plans
Waste Climate Actions To Be Unveiled During January Webinar
HDR has announced a webinar to unveil the results of a research project that discovered more than 300 waste actions in 20 climate action plans. Led by HDR waste experts Kate Bartelt and Kevin De Lange, the research reviewed climate action plans from North American cities and counties including Toronto, Minneapolis and Milwaukee.
“Embedding waste management strategies into regional decarbonization plans is pivotal for long-term climate resiliency,” said Kate Bartelt, HDR senior waste/environmental project manager. “Until we reach a zero-waste society, waste has to be managed.”
Research revealed that 70% of all waste climate actions centered around three paramount principles: source reduction and reuse, recycling and organics management — key components of the waste management hierarchy.
HDR invites those interested in learning about the waste climate action opportunities to register for the event. The webinar, “Hundreds of Waste Opportunities Revealed in North American Climate Action Plans, is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023 at 12 p.m. CST.
