Aaron Zdinak Shares Geotechnical Insights With Geostrata Magazine
Geotechnical Director Aaron Zdinak, P.E., BC.GE, shared his expertise recently with Geostrata magazine, speaking about the influence of new technologies, the state of the geotechnical profession, leadership lessons and more. Geostrata is the publication of the Geo-Institute, one of multiple specialty institutes created by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Zdinak has been with HDR for 14 years of his over 30-year career and has provided his geotechnical expertise across the globe. He shared with the magazine what led to his career in geotechnical engineering, explained what sets the geotechnical industry apart and discussed the biggest challenges and exciting changes ahead for the profession, including the integration of artificial intelligence and data analytics.
“The geotechnical profession and civil engineering are alive and well, but they’re becoming more competitive as technology starts to level the playing field with access to large data sets, the emergence of powerful AI and data analytics, and integrated workflows,” Zdinak said. “The coupling of digital visualization and application of new technologies to our programs — measurement while drilling, geophysics, remote sensing — allow us to do things previously viewed as unimaginable.”
