Marnie Boomer Joins HDR as Seattle Managing Principal

Marnie Boomer has joined HDR as managing principal of the Seattle architecture studio. Most recently, executive director of operational excellence for Providence St. Joseph Health and Services Real Estate Strategy Operations, Marnie succeeds Duncan Griffin, who was promoted to serve as HDR’s director of sustainability for health architecture. 

With a healthcare operations background and architecture firm leadership experience, Boomer will champion collaboration among a multidisciplinary team of architects, planners, interior designers and landscape architects to deliver inspired places and spaces in Seattle and beyond in the Pacific Northwest.

“Connecting my lived experiences in architecture and healthcare operations to influence the way HDR plans, designs and constructs is an amazing opportunity to make a positive impact on the built environment,” Boomer said. 

With 33 years of experience in healthcare architecture, Boomer has been responsible for implementing system-wide best practices for hospitals, clinics, specialized care environments and strategic projects. Previous leadership roles include serving as regional director, facility manager, lead project manager, architect and medical planner.

Boomer earned her bachelor’s degree in environmental design from Texas A&M University and Master of Architecture from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. An active member of the healthcare design and Puget Sound communities, Boomer served as state president of the Washington State Society of Healthcare Engineering and is board member secretary of nonprofit specialized pediatric and family care provider Pope’s Place.
