The Pavilion at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Honored With 2 Center for Health Design Awards

The Pavilion at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania has been honored with two awards from the Center for Health Design for 2023: a Platinum Evidence-Based Design Touchstone Award and the Healthcare Environment Award. HDR formally accepted the awards at the 2023 Healthcare Design Conference + Expo in New Orleans.

The Evidence-Based Design Touchstone Awards recognize exemplary use of the evidence-based design process across three areas: collaboration, evaluation and sharing. The Healthcare Environment Award is presented to projects which feature design that improves safety, enhances experiences, and increases organizational efficiency. The Pavilion at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is the only project to win both awards in 2023.

“These awards are a testament to the amazing teamwork of hundreds of brilliant clinicians, designers, engineers and builders working together toward a common goal: creating a space that will change lives and advance care for Philadelphia and beyond," said Sara Gally, NCIDQ, EDAC, HDR's interior design principal. "After over eight years working together on the project, we are thrilled with the recognition it has garnered, culminating in these two awards from the Center for Health Design.”
