Health Hub, the Next Generation of Clinical Care Delivery Arrives in Georgia

The overall member and staff experience is enhanced in this modern, inviting and engaging facility that reinforces Kaiser Permanente’s philosophy to promote health and to provide members with continuous care in their total health journey. The experience is enriched by design elements selected to capture the beautiful natural setting of the facility; local icons such as Kennesaw Mountain, Chattahoochee River and Silver Comet Trail were used as inspiration for selection of colors, textures or imagery that reflect familiarity to members and staff, and to inspire them to visit again and stay active.

Kaiser Permanente’s West Cobb Medical Office Building Renovation brings to the Georgia Region Kaiser Permanente’s most innovative clinical care model to date: Health Hub, the Next Generation of Clinical Care Delivery.

The Next Generation Health Hub focuses on ‘Life Integration’, the concept where healthcare is interwoven into people’s lives. This vision shifts the center of care from KP venues into members’ activities, relationships and communities. Instead of asking members to work around Kaiser Permanente’s existing system, Life Integration brings healthcare to the members.

The Kaiser Permanente West Cobb existing two-story MOB incorporates the Heath Hub concept in a 23,000-square-foot, extensive renovation. The facility will offer an expanded array of clinical services, including adult medicine, pediatrics, behavioral health, and obstetrics and gynecology. Additional patient services include a renovated pharmacy, new laboratory testing, and expanded radiology services.

The concept of three distinctive zones is an intrinsic component of Health Hub Model:

• The Public Square and Front Porch:  This first impression space brings the outside in to provide an inviting, bright and open space that facilitates member check-in, offers education and resources, and creates waiting areas in a relaxing environment.
• The Clinic Module:  This consists of two Clinic Pods which include exam rooms, common team workspace and shared support. The team workspace (on-stage collaboration zone) is a flexible space that encourages communication and efficiencies. The Next Generation Exam Room is designed to put the member at the center of all activities. This establishes a calming environment for the patient and provides well-organized, same-handed rooms that promote staff efficiencies and optimal care.
• The Enclave:  This is an off-stage refuge for physicians and care team members. It includes flexible spaces ranging from social and collaborative to private and focused, housing provider offices and a relaxing and engaging space for support staff.
