One of its region’s leading educational institutions, Qatar University commissioned the design of a new building that integrates the teaching, administration and research functions for its colleges of medicine, health sciences and pharmacy. The Qatar University Health Campus site hosts the three integrated colleges and holds the potential of future expansion to include academic courses for nursing, dentistry and midwifery, as well as postgraduate programmes for professional development.

Theme-based faculty structures within the Health Campus blur boundaries with the aim of encouraging cross-collaboration; developing efficiencies and ideation; and helping create a cohesive global identity for Qatar University Health.

As a sub-consultant to KEO, HDR’s role includes providing specialist educational consulting services and leading the architectural and interior design, and educational and laboratory planning throughout the design phase of the project, as well as developing the laboratory planning (including lab furniture and equipment) through to end of construction.
