Michael Flores
Practice Lead, Collection System Operations
Michael is our practice lead for collection system operations and vice-chair of our asset management team. He is responsible for supporting business development and high-quality technical delivery of collection system operations, maintenance and asset management projects across the United States. This includes building our internal staff capability in various regions to deliver collection system projects.
He is passionate about improving operational excellence, optimising the use of resources, and minimising the environmental and societal impacts of collection system operations. Over the past two decades, Michael has supported wastewater agencies with reducing sewer overflows by improving the effectiveness of their sewer maintenance operations, building the business case for increased capital investment, and implementing decision processes and systems to support smart capital investment decisions.
Michael is currently an active member of the California Water Environment Association (CWEA), a Water Environment Federation (WEF) member association, and the Chair of CWEA’s Sanitary Sewer System Waste Discharge Requirements Training Task Force. In this role, he is partnering with the California State Water Resources Control Board to provide training to help California’s collection system agencies achieve compliance with the state’s version of capacity, management, operation and maintenance (CMOM) and to improve the effectiveness of sewer system management.
