Amy Mays, IIDA, LEED AP, EDAC
Interior Design Director
Amy leads our New York Interior Design studio, where every day is a balancing act of time and effort related to design, teaching, research and marketing. Her focus is in the healthcare field, which she finds incredibly rewarding because it allows her opportunities to positively influence people’s experiences at a time when they may be especially vulnerable.
Her collaborative style and strong leadership skills, cultivated during a 20-year career, help Amy guide design teams to deliver thoughtful results to clients, many of whom are the leading healthcare organizations in the nation. She appreciates the chance to get to know clients and understand their needs — and especially enjoys working with them to uncover needs they didn’t realize. Identifying those needs and then providing design alternatives and, ultimately, a design solution that goes above and beyond what they ever imagined … that, Amy says, is what she loves most about what she does. Her appreciation for interior design along with a degree in industrial design has also led to opportunities to design products for healthcare environments, which continues her holistic thinking philosophy.
Amy currently serves as President-elect for the New York Chapter of the International Interior Design Association and co-chair the Healthcare Forum, one of 13 focused forums within IIDA. She is one of the association’s strongest champions, advocating for its incredible network of design professionals and a platform for professional growth, mentoring and collaboration. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards and she is a frequent speaker on many healthcare design topics.
