Mass timber is a hot topic in the architectural community, prized for its sustainability, versatility and biophilic properties. Its slow adoption in the healthcare typology due to infection control concerns in clinical settings is rapidly changing with recent code revisions and the construction of the Quinte Health Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital —the first unencapsulated all mass timber hospital in North America.
