Unpacking the 2025 Outlook for Railroads
Freight Rail Leader Bill Hjelholt Shares Insights on State of the Industry with Railway Track & Structures
The railroad industry continues to evolve to meet new market challenges, improve operations and optimize its networks. Looking ahead, new opportunities abound in the industry, particularly around new technologies and interconnectivity.
Freight Rail Director Bill Hjelholt has four decades of experience in rail and recently shared his thoughts on the industry’s outlook with Railway Track & Structures magazine. Hjelholt discussed the railroads' focus on safety improvements, better connections across rail lines and supply chain efficiencies.
“To be successful in the ever-accelerating speed-to-market race in which consumers seek to optimize delivery from the supply chain network, railroads are prioritizing service reliability with each movement across their network,” Hjelholt wrote. “There’s a tremendous opportunity for railroads to capitalize on their inherent advantages to grow market share with intermodal traffic.”
