Kim Elliott, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, NCARB

Senior Planner

Kim’s passion for designing educational spaces was sparked by her first design role as an exhibition designer for cultural and history museums. There, she discovered how to tell a story with designs that educate and inspire diverse stakeholders.

Over her 15-year career as an architect and academic planner in higher education, Kim has focused on designing educational spaces that inspire students and enhance learning outcomes. Whether designing active learning classrooms, specialised research labs or cultural centres, Kim’s efforts are rooted in the powerful effect that thoughtful design can have on learning.

As a senior planner, Kim collaborates with college and university stakeholders to transform project ideas into reality. She excels at planning, programming and realising project goals. Her extensive expertise helps clients understand the complex puzzle of developing a new building — from the program and its adjacencies to the function and design of new or existing spaces — all to ensure that projects meet and exceed expectations.

Her professional background includes notable projects at Johns Hopkins University, Howard University Health Sciences Center, New York Law School and the Olin College of Engineering. From her experience with the District of Columbia Office of Planning, Kim developed a comprehensive understanding of citywide policy, urban planning, public engagement, cultural grant projects and project review across D.C.

Kim dedicates her time to advancing the industry as an active member of the American Institute of Architects, the United States Green Building Council and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
