HDR Selected to Provide Civil Engineering Services at Charlotte Douglas International Airport
The Charlotte Douglas International Airport has selected HDR to provide civil engineering services for the airport for the next four years. The selection builds on nearly two decades of supporting the airport's projects and initiatives, including a current role providing on-call environmental services.
As an on-call civil engineer, HDR will act as an extension of the airport’s engineering staff, providing a variety of services that could include studies, conceptual designs, investigations and technical support. Much of the work is expected to support Charlotte’s Destination CLT Capital Improvement Program, meant to enhance capacity and create an airport of the future. The Charlotte Douglas International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the U.S., with nearly 48 million passengers traveling through in 2022.
“I’m thrilled about the chance to continue collaborating with CLT,” said HDR East Region Aviation Manager Tim Fish, who will be leading HDR’s work for the airport. “I’ve consistently aimed to contribute value to my local airport, and this presents the perfect opportunity for me to fulfill that goal. I am eager to apply the best practices I have developed on airport projects across the U.S. in collaboration with the diverse capabilities of our over 300 local staff in Charlotte.”
Charlotte Douglas International Airport joins multiple other major airports for which HDR is providing on-call services. In the past five years, HDR has successfully managed more than 50 on-call contracts at more than 40 airports. Notably, HDR often continues to provide services under consecutive contracts, showcasing its commitment to delivering efficient scopes and projects to meet the evolving needs of its clients.
“Airports across North America trust HDR to provide high-quality engineering, architecture, environmental, construction and related advisory services,” said HDR Aviation Director Bill Peduzzi. “Whether landside traffic improvements, airfield upgrades, sustainability and resiliency planning, or terminal modernizations, our experts have helped improve every aspect of the facilities we work at. We’re looking forward to doing the same for CLT, using our expertise to help further some of the airport’s top priorities.”
