(OMAHA, Neb., August 14, 2009) - Six professionals from HDR's Water Business Group (WBG) are scheduled to participate as presenters and/or moderators at the American Society of Civil Engineer's (ASCE) Pipeline 2009 Conference which will be held August 15-19, in San Diego. The professionals are John Plattsmier, Allison Ratliff, Terry McArthur, Mark Mihm, Glen Partlow and Sri Rajah.
Workshops, technical papers and panel discussions will cover special topics and recent regulatory initiatives in the water, wastewater, oil and gas industries at this event that annually attracts upwards of 600 pipeline and related professionals.
Ratliff, a senior project manager in HDR’s Las Vegas office, is scheduled to give a presentation on Aug. 17 in the Infrastructure Assessment/Monitoring session entitled "Phased and Focused Approach for Water Pipeline Corrosion Assessment."
Mihm of Dallas will make a presentation on Aug. 18 in the planning session entitled, "Case Study of the Mountain Creek Interceptor: How Slope Recovery and Bold Realignment Saved the Trinity River Authority Millions."
Rajah will serve as the moderator on Aug. 18 for the Design technical program before presenting two papers that day. The senior structural engineer from Bellevue, Wash., has two presentations in the Construction track – "White Paper on Thrust Restraint Design of Buried Pipelines, Part 2 – Historical Development" and "Effectiveness of Thermal Stress Control Practices in the Performance of Buried Welded Steel Pipelines."
Plattsmier, national technical director for Water and Wastewater Pipelines based in Denver, will serve as moderator for the "Infrastructure Assessment/Monitoring" session on Aug. 18.
McArthur is a senior project manager in the Lincoln, Neb., office. His presentation on Aug. 18 in the Infrastructure Assessment/Monitoring session is entitled "96-inch Sewer Replacement or Renewal – A Case History."
On Aug. 19, Partlow, who is based out of HDR’s Orlando office, will present "OUC Project RENEW – A Reuse Pipeline Routing Analysis."
HDR also has two representatives on the conference steering committee. They are Joe Castronovo of Dallas, exhibits chairman, and Jeff Moncrief of San Diego, sponsorship co-chairman.
