HDR's corporate policy is to afford every practicable opportunity for the small business community to participate in contracts awarded to HDR by the federal government, to ensure that equitable opportunity is provided to small, small disadvantaged, woman-owned, HUBzone, veteran-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned concerns and Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority Institutions to compete for award of subcontracts and purchase orders, and to diligently pursue the achievement of our goals of participation by the small business community in the dollars available for subcontract/purchase order on all qualifying contracts.As both our public and private sector markets continue to grow, we understand the importance of our partnerships with the small business community to enhance our competitiveness in the marketplace. HDR is continually looking for quality small business firms for subcontracting opportunities through our outreach efforts and is actively involved in small business conferences and procurement fairs to locate small businesses that have synergies with HDR and will in turn, create opportunities for these small businesses to thrive.
Tips for Increasing Your Firm's Subcontracting Opportunities with HDR
Complete HDR's Small Business Profile Form: Complete the Small Business Profile form in order to be searchable in the Small Business Database. This will ensure the necessary information about your firm gets put into our system for review and is available when we are seeking firms that have qualifications that might match an opportunity that HDR has.
Upon Review of Qualifications the HDR Small Business Manager may contact you to provide names of local HDR contacts in your area. If additional information is needed, the Small Business Manager will request it at this time.
Register in the CCR: (www.ccr.gov) This is a main sourcing database not just for government agencies, but for large federal prime contractors like HDR. Often HDR must look to government source lists to locate a particular type of small business. Registering your firm will increase the chance that you will be shortlisted for HDR's small business bidding opportunities. Registration does require you to have DUNS number. If you do not have a DUNS Number, contact Dun and Bradstreet (www.dnb.com).
Do your research: Get to know as much as you can about HDR, our clients, and the kinds of projects we chase. A good resource for doing this, is the Federal Procurement Data System (www.fpds.gov, registration is free but required) where you can search for specific contracts or companies to see what kind of work they have done for the government in the past.
Watch for upcoming projects: If you see a project that is interesting to you and your company and you think there might be a teaming or subcontracting opportunity with HDR, please ask me for information on our involvement.
Market Yourself to local HDR marketing staff. The local HDR marketing staff in your area is your best resource for determining future teaming opportunities. Follow up with them regarding potential opportunities for teaming on upcoming solicitations.
